Bring a Trailer: 1979 Porsche 911 Turbo

I’m just gonna admit it, it was the red that caught my eye. However, I am happy that it did because this is quite a car! This is a 1979 Porsche 911 Turbo that is currently for sale on everybody’s favorite website, Bring a Trailer! The Porsche is in great condition and looks beautiful, so let’s talk a little bit more about it!

This is the 930 model of the 911 line-up from Porsche. This model was made in the late 70s and early 80s and the turbo has some pretty cool features. The turbo model was the top of the 930 models and was easily the fastest of the bunch. It also has the biggest stance, the biggest wing, and creates the most power. So, let’s start off with this car by talking about the engine that Porsche decided to put in this car!

The specifications of this car are pretty impressive by 1979 standards, but then again, isn’t that what won Porsche their reputation among car enthusiasts. The fact that their cars could be rather unassuming but then do 0-60 in seconds? Anyway, let’s talk about that engine! So, according to the listing, this engine has a flat-six like most 930 models did.

To be specific, the car is equipped with a 3.3 Liter, Turbocharged, Flat-6 that created 296 horsepower. This signature Porsche engine is connected to a four-speed manual transmission in this car that is in the transaxle position. This means that this car will do 0-60 in 5.0 seconds. The rated top speed on the 1979 930 model is just shy of 162 mph, which is really fast! Let’s talk about some of the coolest features on this car though!

This car has some of the coolest Porsche features that the older Porsche Turbos were fitted with. The first thing that is just awesome about this car is the fact that it has a massive rear wing that is situated just behind the cockpit. It serves as a source of downforce for the car as well as a source of cooling for the engine. Porsches have their engines in the back and so this massive wing pushes air over the intercooler as you drive!

This Porsche also has the mud protection covers on the rear shoulders that just look so cool. The only purpose they serve is to have save the paint but man, they just look so cool. Not every Porsche model gets these so they are also somewhat exclusive! There have been models after the 930 that have received these covers, but they are far spread across the Porsche line-up and becoming more difficult to get.

This is an extra cool listing because on top of the fact that it is a sweet car, it is also in fantastic condition. The interior looks great and the videos provided show that the car drives great as well! The seller has recently had a full service on the car done that included service to the engine, brakes, and more. I think that this is what one would consider the ideal listing. The car is great, the service records are great, and it has an official certificate of authenticity from Porsche.

I am happy that I stumbled upon this beauty and wish that I could purchase it myself. This car would be perfect for a afternoon drive in the summer!
